PSATs on October 11th
On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) will be administered to all students in grades 10 and 11.   If a student would like to use a calculator they must bring one with them.  Approved calculator are listed on the next page. The Fort Lee Board of Education will incur the cost of this test as all students must participate.  Tenth and eleventh grade students must be in their assigned testing classroom by 7:40 am.  Students in grade nine and twelve will operate on a delayed opening schedule.  Twelfth graders are to report to the auditorium and ninth graders are to report to the gym at 9:45 am.

The State of New Jersey requires students pass one standardized test in order to graduate high school. The PSAT/NMSQT is one of these exams and all students should take this test seriously.
The State of New Jersey has issued a variety of cut off scores for the PARCC, SAT, ACT and PSAT to measure high school proficiency.

It is important to know that the PSAT/NMSQT gives students a unique opportunity to practice for the SAT test while simultaneously competing for prestigious scholarships and recognition programs in their junior year.  Scores will also be used to determine Honors and AP course eligibility when scheduling classes for junior and senior year.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s school counselor with any questions.
