Dear Parents & Students,

PARCC Testing will take place at the Fort Lee High School from April 18th-April 25th. The ELA PARCC will be given on 4/18, 4/19 and 4/20 during periods 1-3. The math PARCC will be given on 4/23, 4/24 and 4/25 during periods 1-3. All non-tested seniors will be permitted to begin school on a delayed opening schedule. Seniors are to report to the auditorium no later than 9:45am. Any underclassmen who are not taking a math PARCC as they have already surpassed Algebra II and/or are in AP English will report to the high school auditorium at 7:45 am each day.

Please keep in mind, FLHS will not be distributing graphing calculators for the Mathematics portion of the PARCC. All students are encouraged to use the calculator which will be built into the PARCC system. This online calculator is an exact replica of the Texas Instruments 84 (TI-84) which students are accustomed to using in class. If a student is not comfortable using an online calculator, they may bring in their own handheld graphing calculator. PARCC recommends using a TI-84 graphing calculator, but others are permitted. If you choose to use a calculator other than the TI-84, it must be approved and tagged by a math teacher at least one week prior to the start of PARCC. Please see the attached PARCC policy for additional information and allowable calculators.

Students are being asked to bring in their own wired headphones, bluetooth headphones will be not be
permitted. Headphones are required for the ELA PARCC and can be used as noise buffers during the math PARCC. If a student does not have their own headphones we will supply them for the ELA PARCC. Students are encouraged to practice before taking the PARCC by visiting: https://parcc.pearson.com/practice-tests/
where practice tests, tutorials, and sample items are available.

I would also like to remind all parents of current 9th and 10th graders to again review the new graduation policy set forth by the State Department of NJ. In the past, students whom have opted out of PARCC testing, were allowed to use SAT/ACT/PSAT scores to meet graduation requirements. This is no longer the case. Students who do not sit for all high school PARCC exams will be jeopardizing their high school graduation. Moving into the 2018-2019 school year, PARCC scores will be included on all student transcripts as put forth by Fort Lee BOE, in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6A:8-4.2. Please refer to NJDOE for additional guidance on graduation requirements. http://www.state.nj.us/education/assessment/parents/GradReq.pdf

Thank you,

Lauren Glynn
