Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize winning musical, RENT, has found its way onto the Fort Lee High School stage. RENT is a rock opera based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera, La Boheme, that tells the story of a group of impoverished artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS. RENT will open on April 27th and run until April 29th. All performances will begin at 7:00 in the Fort Lee High School auditorium and run for approximately 2 hours with a 15-minute intermission. Ticket prices are $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students (with i.d.) and senior citizens.

Fort Lee High School Guidance Department hosted another excellent parent/counselor breakfast on Tuesday, March 21st for parents in grade 9-11. A representative from Kaplan Test Prep reviewed the PSAT, SAT & ACT. On the evening of Tuesday March 28th in the high school cafeteria, Fort Lee High School's Teen PEP students will be hosting an interactive workshop on parent-teen communication regarding teen health issues. This workshop is intended for 9th grade students and their parents/guardians, but it is open to all high school students and their adult family members, as well as all school staff. Admission is free and food will be served. Dinner will be served beginning at 6:30 pm and the workshop will start at 7:00. We hope to see you there. [Invitation]

Following in the footsteps of Twelve Angry Men, Fort Lee High School’s Academy of Theatre Arts introduces its audiences to the talents of its young playwrights and directors with its first One Act Play Festival on February 23rd and 24th in the Fort Lee High School Auditorium. Each performance will begin at 7:00 and will run approximately 2 hours with a 15-minute intermission. Ticket prices are $5.00. The audience gets an opportunity to vote for their favorite one act and the one act with the most votes will compete at the Mainstage Center for the Arts Annual High School Drama Festival.

The PSATs will be given to all students in grade 10 and 11 on Wednesday, October 19th. 10th and 11th grade students are to report to their testing rooms promptly at 7:40 am with a pencil and calculator, cell phones are not an acceptable calculator. Testing rooms will be displayed outside of Guidance on Monday afternoon. Students in grade 9 and 12 will report to school at 9:45 am. 9th graders will report to the gym and 12th graders to the auditorium.

For all FLHS Seniors and their Parents: Guidance Counselors will present the steps in the college application process. There will also be a FAFSA information session with a Financial Aid Advisor from Montclair State University.
The Fort Lee High School College Fair - Wednesday, September 28th, 6:30 to 9:30 pm Representatives from 90 colleges will be available to discuss their respective school and offer information on entrance requirements and majors available.
The following colleges/universities will be holding information sessions for juniors and seniors at Fort Lee High School. Students must register on Naviance prior to the session in order to attend. (see attached)
Undergraduate yearbook portraits will be taken on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, during physical education classes in the small gym. Any student who wishes to purchase a portrait package can use the form provided by the photographer at the sitting, or print this order form and return to Ms. Karabatsos in room 140 anytime before or after picture day.
