Changes NJSLA Testing Juniors & EL Students

Changes to NJSLA Testing For Juniors and EL Students As of 3/18/19

On March 8th, a letter about NJSLA testing (formally the PARCC) was sent to all families instructing them that testing would take place at the Fort Lee High School from April 8-April 12 for all students enrolled in English 9, English 10, English 11, Algebra, Geometry & Algebra II.   On March 18th, the NJDOE released a broadcast changing the testing requirements for our juniors and some of our newly admitted students from other countries.  Please see the below information that can be found at https://homeroom5.doe.state.nj.us/broadcasts/

  • The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), in consultation with the State Board of Education, will not require districts to administer end-of-course statewide assessments in ELA and mathematics to students in grade 11.
  • According to the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), any student who entered the United States after June 1 of the prior school year, including high school students, is exempt from taking the NJSLA-ELA.
As of March 18, 2019 FLHS will no longer be administering the NJSLA to juniors and newly admitted students from other countries.  A schedule for these students during testing is forthcoming.
