Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) Program

FLHS School Counseling Department held their annual 10th grade parent & counselor breakfast on Friday, October 18th at 9 am in FLHS Auditorium. Parents were given the opportunity to meet their child’s counselor and learn about how to get their child involved in clubs and activities in order to boost college applications! There was also a presentation given by representatives from the Bergen County Division of Mental Health regarding the new 10th grade Teen Mental Health First Aid(tMHFA) program. Fort Lee High School is one of 35 schools nationwide who have been chosen to participate in Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation & National Council for Behavioral Health new program. Teen Mental Health First Aid

We’re thrilled to share that the County of Bergen’s Department of Health Services’ Division of Mental Health is partnering with Fort Lee High School in order to participate in The National Council for Behavioral Health and Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation's expanded pilot program. We are one of 35 sites nationwide that will be introducing Teen Mental First Aid(tMHFA) to our school community. This program will be offered to our 10th grade class and is slated to begin in late fall. More specific information regarding the start date of the program will be coming in the near future. Senior Night Success!

Senior Night was a huge success! Click [Read More] to view the materials that were discussed. The first half of the presentation was given by counselors and referenced the college application process and Naviance. The second half of the presentation was given by Mr. Michael Corso, Director of Financial Aid, at William Paterson University. Each family was given a folder that included their one to one counseling appointment, college rep visits, the student's transcript, and the senior checklist. Please stop by guidance to pick up your folder if you were unable to attend.

The college application process, the role of the family and student in the college application process, important dates and deadlines and the FAFSA will be discussed in detail. FLHS will be hosting our annual College Fair on 9/18/19 at 6pm in the gymnasium. All students and parents in grade 9-12 are highly encouraged to attend as over 100 universities will be in attendance. This is a great opportunity to speak to college representatives! A list of attending agencies are attached.

Student Schedules 19-20 now available on Genesis

Please be reminded elective, lunch period, and teacher changes are not permitted. Course level changes are only permitted upon availability and if criteria was met in 18-19. The Schedule Change Timeline & Schedule Change Request form are included below. If there is an error in your schedule or you are requesting an appropriate schedule change please complete the Schedule Correction Form in it's entirety and email it to your counselor. Parent signatures are required. Paper copies of this form will be accepted on the first day of school.
